There are 24 artifacts (6 in each world) and 40 puzzle pieces spread across four worlds. Collecting these not only earns trophies but also unlocks special content. These trophies encourage players to thoroughly explore each level‚ making the journey to 100% completion both rewarding and engaging.
Astro’s Playroom has received a surprise update that adds the PS5 Pro and other PlayStation accessories to the game’s gacha machine. Astro’s Playroom launched over four years ago, but developer Team Asobi has since released a few updates for the fan-favorite game. Hopefully, this has helped you to get the most out of the free PS5 platformer.
The soundtrack is catchy and playful just as you would expect from a platformer and the 3D audio really helps add to the immersion. The speaker on the DualSense controller plays a lot of sounds out of it which is something I always enjoy and each one is done really well here to help add to the experience. The trophy hunters out there will even find 46 trophies here including a Platinum.
Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Once you reach the section of the level where it is raining, before going up the dark wall, jump to the platform on the right to reach this puzzle piece. Artifact 2/2 “EyeToy Camera” – At the next checkpoint you can obtain the machine gun, which allows you to shoot through glass walls. Take the machine gun back to where puzzle piece 3 was, where you might have noticed a box with a wire pull in it. Shoot this box to break it, then pull the wire to reveal this artifact. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – Right at the start of the level, look down and to the left to see a group of three of the spinnable flowers.
The chapter contains information about the controls, the game’s length and language version. The song “I Am Astro Bot [Playroom Remix],” which repeats the title and plays on the opening menu, is enough to make it a catchy earworm.
Astro’s Playroom isn’t just a tech demo but a fun little platformer. It’s great that Sony is investing more in the Astro Bot franchise because this could be their answer to the Super Mario series. The level design is more like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World, and that’s a huge compliment. While linear, the space feels open enough to have a ton of details throughout. The basics are you’re traversing the area, trying to find items and coins as you reach the next level.
This was a free add-on to 2013 PS4 pack-in title The Playroom by SCE Japan Studio, which is the originator of the Bots and actually precedes the creation of Astro. Horizon has a second reference with the “Ready for the Proving” Trophy, awarded for shooting a Spitter’s shot with the bow and arrow in Raytrace Ruins. Um Jammer Lammy gets a second reference in the “It’s All in the Mind” Trophy, awarded for beating three enemies quickly with Punches.

Return to the same pier that you found the first correct starfish under and look towards the sandstorm, and you’ll see one just to the right of a palm tree nearby, which is the third starfish.

Puzzle Piece 3/4 – After sliding down the long cable, pull the next wire and go up the two platforms moving up and down. Every time I had fun with the game, it always ended in me encountering an area that is simply impossible for me to finish. This includes all the aforementioned key areas of levels with physical mandatory controls, but also some minor elements that appear briefly through the game. Further mandatory physical interaction with the controller includes blowing into the microphone and flicking your finger to launch Astro like a slingshot.
Cooling Springs Easter Eggs
First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Now, return to the starting area, and to the side, you’ll find another set of wires, which gives you a projectile with a net inside. If done successfully, the Gran Turismo Special Bot and the “Grand Tourist” trophy will unlock. Before you do that, stand on the edge just to the left of where you need to pull the chest from the ground.
Enemies themselves are either simplistically designed slimes, enemy robots, or spring-action bird things that can take out Astro with a surge of electricity. GPU Jungle characteristics a monkey suit that lets an individual use the DualSense’s motion controls in order to swing backwards and forwards just as well as rise up structures. TG88 in SSD Speedway will be all about power and speed to reach fresh heights as you control the suit’s thrusters with the two triggers. The rolling suit in Recollection Meadow is manipulated via touch sleeping pad, for an encounter not unlike Smart Monkey Ball. But once you perform dive in, there’s no shortage of joy that will come from how Crew Asobi has converted in-game surfaces, objects, and movement directly into different DualSense feelings. I had a bunch of games and PS+ when I got my PS5 but I still played through 100% of this and got the Platinum before I even got to any of them.
Puzzle Piece 3/4– At the next checkpoint there are some spots you can bounce on to climb up the platforms. Instead of going up, bounce to the opposite side to find this puzzle piece underneath the platform. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – Just after the next checkpoint, there are a bunch of explosive enemies on the ground you can light using your ship thrusters. When they explode they destroy the ground, revealing an area with this puzzle piece.
Before jumping into any of the locales (all of which are just a simple animation away, with no loading screens in between), the portal to each world features the type of terrain you’ll primarily encounter. So, before hopping into Cooling Springs, there’s a small pool for Astro to splash around in, or ahead of SSD Speedway, I can stomp around the mechanical mesh platforms that will blanket the upcoming levels. They’re the most subtle uses of the DualSense, but it’s a nice way to set the scene. Astro’s Playroom is a 2020 platform game developed by Japan Studio‘s Team Asobi division and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. A sequel to Astro Bot Rescue Mission, the game comes pre-installed on every console, serving additionally as a free tech demo for the DualSense controller.
